Council Bluffs Light of Hope
We put on Light of Hope events around the state in areas of high need in order to raise awareness and funds for the CASA program. The CASA program deals with children who have been removed from homes because of abuse and neglect, of which there are thousands around Iowa, including hundreds in the Council Bluffs area alone.
The Second Annual Council Bluffs Light of Hope will be an exciting, fast-moving, one-hour breakfast event to be held 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM on Friday, May 18 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Council Bluffs. We’ve got the talented Ernest Richardson, resident conductor of the Omaha Symphony, as the emcee, and two great speakers: a former foster youth who will speak about growing up in the system, and the wonderful Elizabeth Varnon, an attorney who has seen first-hand how CASA advocates can help.
In addition, this year’s event will serve as the kickoff to a day of training for the local CASA advocates, which is very cool.
The purpose of Light of Hope is to INCREASE, RAISE, and INSPIRE:
1. We want to INCREASE awareness of the issues in the Council Bluffs area.
2. We want to RAISE money to help support the volunteers who do such amazing work with these children.
3. We want to INSPIRE guests to become involved in some way.
